NEWS UPDATE! {2/7/2014} A recent correspondence from the office of Senator Brain Schatz may help our plight! "Thank you for contacting Senator Brian Schatz regarding noise pollution from commercial helicopters flying over Mountain View. We would be pleased to assist you by contacting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for you. Although Sen. Schatz is unable to influence determinations or responses from the FAA, as a courtesy to you our office could inquire about the noise being produced by commercial helicopters. " From: David.S.Ryon@faa.gov [mailto:David.S.Ryon@faa.gov] Sent: Wednesday, March 19, 2014 1:36 PM To: help@umvc.org Subject: Noise in the mountainview area Hello Mr. Soares, Senator Brian Schatz’s office has asked us to look into your complaint of noise in the mountain view area. Although the FAA does not normally directly regulate noise, we can likely provide assistance by working with operators that fly on the big island to mitigate noise problems while remaining within regulatory guidelines. Are there specific companies that produce more noise in mountain view? It would be helpful if you could provide us with a map of which areas are currently impacted the most. Thank you for your time, You can reach me at (808) 837-8323 or david.s.ryon @faa.gov Sincerely, David S. The inspectors who have primary responsibility for the operators based on the big island will work with the operators there to minimize the noise impact. Please remember that other than during initial aircraft certification and in very limited instances directly around airports, the FAA does not regulate aircraft noise. Sincerely, David S.
